This show is going to be a breath of much needed fresh air to Broadway this season. I saw this show in its first incarnation in La Jolla, CA and I cannot say how excited I am for this new production. I was not expecting much going into it two years ago, but after that first production my interest was piqued. So I recently attended the reading at the Lincoln Center and needless to say, I was blown away. The score is unlike anything Frank Wildhorn has ever delivered before and it has a definitive mixture of American Folk, Country, Bluegrass and Rock. The direction by Multi-Tony nominee and Ovation Award Winner Jeff Calhoun, book by Emmy nominated Ivan Menchell, Incredible score by Multi-Grammy and Tony Award nominated Frank Wildhorn, and OSCAR, BMI Icon, Golden Globe Winner Don Black on lyrics, paints an extraordinary picture which brings mature audiences as well as a new generation of entertainment goers an incredibly true story of who these people were, and more importantly- why. The infamous pairs performances are going to be Jeremy Jordan as Clyde and Laura Osnes as Bonnie. From what Ive seen, their careers are going to explode once this hits the public. I would not be surprised with a TONY nom and win on multiple levels for this production. This is on the top of my list, and for excellent reason.

I agree. could be Wildhorne's sleeper hit! - 3:53PM on 8/29/2011
I agree with the review posted July 1.
This was quite enjoyable and I am far from a Wildhorne fan. Great tunes, acting, direction and set.

Unique, a treat, wonderful memory - 8:44PM on 9/15/2011
I had the privilege to see this in Sarasota last December and absolutely was enthralled. It is a wonderful production, and I am proud to say I knew about it before the NY audience. Embrace this terrific show. "Bonnie & Clyde the Musical" who knew? But it is just THAT good!

The show has many good qualities - the music - the wonderful voices - set design - the performers. BUT it is about 30 minutes too long! It needs to be tightened and some numbers removed. Parts are very redundant. It would be a shame to have all the excellent aspects lose effectiveness by the the extreme length.
