Composer Playwright Danny D'Agostino bringing three new modern musicals to the stage - 7:36PM on 10/15/2009

Several months ago Danny D'Agostino completed "Music Store" the Hip Hop R&B musical, written for an integrated cast. Currently, he is completing ""Gotta Find Love," a dance musical featuring 20 songs with modern dance rythms (techno, funk, Pop, ballads) and a cast of just 8 performers. The basic music composition for 16 songs is completed.
Lastly, Danny will tackle "Magog," the very exciting sci-fi rock opera. This inspiring work features the music of Gabriel Bondage, the highly acclaimed art rock band of the 70s.

The above musicals will also employ modern sound composition, combining new analog and digital instrumentation available on Danny's cadre of synthesizers which have more than 5500 music instruments on board. Recently Danny purchased a fully customized Yamaha XS 61 synth. and a Roland Juno Stage synth to complete the musical projects.

Update: Danny D' just completed the 21st and final song for "Gotta Find Love."

"I'm real happy with the score for the show: lots of wonderful dance songs with beautiful melodies and modern dance beats. Next up, I'll be pounding away at the arrangements, using my Yamaha and Roland synthesizers. Some of the songs will have a unique sound interpretation only a synthesizer can produce, while others will get the full symphony treatment. The song rythms feature Techno, Pop, Disco Pop, R&B, Funk, shuffle, and some new rythms.

The most challenging job in the project is not music composition, writing the play or arranging. It's composing lyrics."

11/21/09 - Update on "Gotta FindLove" Danny D's new modern Dance musical.

Just completed 28 songs, kicked out 8, leaving 20 of my best dance songs, including 4 ballads for the show.

Right now I am laying down demo tracks of 7 seven songs from the show. ALL the music from this show will be produced for the stage using just ONE synthesizer: my Yamaha XS 61, customized with roughly 2000 instruments.
It can produce symphony orchestras, as well as any modern instrument, digital and/or analog, and amalgams thereof.

The songs rhythms in the show are: techno, discopop, trance, funk, swingjazz, shuffle, and other cool stuff. It's a choreographer's dream project.

UPDATE:

Progress on Danny D's modern dance musical "Gotta Find Love" is proceeding superbly and delightfully. Full midi arrangements for 10 of the 18 songs in the dance musical are completed. As stated previously, "Gotta Find Love" is a dance musical featuring modern dance rhythms, "wall to wall" singing and dancing.

NEWS: My playwrighting partner, Michael, and I just formed a partnership with Artistic Director John Schmitz of Dance Chicago to stage an early workshop pre-production in Chicago. We played 6 songs from the show and John loved the music very much. It's going to be a challenge for the coreographers, but John is going to manage and appoint select Chicago coreographers.

The project is held up several weeks because Danny is recovering from surgery. All in all, we couldn't be more happy with the progress. "The new Yamaha XS 61 synthesizer is pumping out the arrangemnts with gusto!" - Danny D'Agostino
