The school for scandal is a satirical comedy,surrounded by gossips of 18th century society. It is highlighte by two brothers,charles and joseph surface. Charles is a good and faithful person. But joseph is a malevolent character. However,sheridan creates the auction scene to prove charles as a good to his uncle sir oliver. In this scend he refused to sell the only one family portrait,sir oliver. And his antagonism against charles reaches a climax and ultimately gets resolved through this scene.
