The first part of the concert was fabulous. The orchestra was spot on with their holiday renditions. It felt like Disneys Fantasia.
Unfortunately, Ms Carroll is Julia no more. At 73, she gave a rather uninspiring performace of show tunes and a couple holiday jingles. She was forgetful on many of the words, started singing before she was supposed to begin. The directory had to coach her on several occasions, as to when she should start singing.
Her banter with the audience was okay, she did get a couple laughs and was certainly self deprecating to a certain extent.
But, her time has past, and it showed. I wonder if people of her generation just cannot walk away from the limelight of the stage?
