Petula Clark played Maria in a London production of The Sound of Music to rave reviews & great acclaim at age 49. Rebecca Luker played the part in the Broadway revival at age 37. Ms Gibson is 40, so she should seek out a producer willing to take a chance on her. I see no reason why it couldnt work, especially if the role of the captain is cast older. He is a widower & the father of seven children, after all.

I met her when she came to my H.S. LaGuardia H.S. for the Arts back in 1991. She couldnt have been more real or nice. Its good to see Debbie out there doing her thing...

I ran a CYO Talent Show in Merrick, NY in 1983 about and Debbie Gibson was a contestant who sang and danced a little number. Her older sister was also in it playing a classical number of the piano. Debbie won in her division and went on to the semi finals and finals and she them all. Evan at that young age, she was as nice as could be and you could see she was so close to her family.
