I am not happy with Fierstein as the replacement for Topol. I cannot stand to listen to Harvey Fierstein talk let alone hear him sing. Firesteins voice sounds like he is coughing up a bunch of phlegm. Its really gross! I find myself trying to clear my throat when I hear him talk. There is no way that I coudl possibly bear sitting through 2.5 hours of Harvey Fierstein. I would have much preferred a talented unknown actor to have taken over the role. I have until June of 2010 to sell my tickets when the show comes to Cleveland, OH. I hope I can sell them.

Saw Fiddler with Fierstein last night in Toronto. Wish I had given my tickets back when I found out that Fierstein had replaced Topol. He was terrible. No sense of comic timing in his punch line; a voice that only another frog would love, no presence, no emotion, and far too many effeminate gestures with his hands. The cast was only adequate. Best were Strober as Tzeitel, and the actor who played Lazar Wolfe who would have made a far better Tevye than Fierstein. Took 7 grandchildren and children with me and the night cost me a thousand dollars. Should have given the money to charity.

What a horrible show! Mr.Fierstein was undoubtably the worst choice to play the lead role. Mirvish Productions in Toronto said he played this part in Broadway to much public aclaim. Have people totally lost their sense of hearing? The singing was terrible as was his speech. It would be nice if he could act convincably as well. I am no snob but to tell you the truth, I would expect the average high school could have done a better job producing Fiddler on the Roof. Thanks Fierstein for ruining my favourite musical.
